    Notes:

    James McCarter served as a volunteer under Captain Moody in the South Carolina Militia, then served under Captain Siddle, a part of General Andrew Pickens troops. He joined the scouting party commanded by Captain John McCarter in Abbeville County, South Carolina. According to his pension paper, he moved to Greene County, Alabama in 1818 from South Carolina.
