Arthur B. "Ott" Dunn , 83, a 49-year resident of Leavenworth, died Friday morning, Aug. 21, 1998, in the Cashmere Convalescent Center.
He was born on Sept. 6, 1914, to James B. and Sally (Watson) Dunn in Sevier County, Tenn., where he grew up and received his early education.
He later farmed and on Sept. 11, 1934, he married Rosetta Rayfield at Cocke County, Tenn.
He worked in road construction and later as a carpenter and was employed a short time at Alcoa.
During World War II he was employed in a Navy ammunition plant at Fulton, Tenn. Following the war they returned to Sevier County, where he was employed as a deputy sheriff until moving to Leavenworth in 1949.
Ott was employed by Peshastin Lumber and Box and later Hank Brown Logging. He operated the Shell Service Station in the mid-1950s to the early 1960s, and later the All- Dunn Inn Cafe and Cabins in Leavenworth. In 1967, together with his son-in-law, they started H & D Logging Co., until his retirement in 1974. He loved to fish the waters of Washington state and he enjoyed the outdoors.
Mr. Dunn is survived by his wife, Rosetta, of the family home; two daughters, Winogene Stubbs of Wenatchee and Ellen "Tootie" Hale of Peshastin; two sons, Wilfred A. Dunn and Glenn A. Dunn , both of Colville; two sisters, Betty Breeden and Pearl Williams, both of Sevierville, Tenn.; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers and three grandsons.
At his request, there will be no service. Interment will be in the Mountain View Cemetery. Those who wish may make a memorial in his name to the charity of one's choice.
Ward's Funeral Chapel, Leavenworth, is in charge of the arrangements.
