This weekend we learned of the passing of Tom Hayes of Parrottsville. Back in the early seventies he and Charlie worked together in Newport and always remained good friends. Our love and sympathy to his family.

Thomas B. Hayes passed away Saturday, September 13, 2008 at his home, with his family by his side after a brave battle with cancer. He was a beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Tom spent most of his life where he was born and raised in Parrottsville.
He has joined his parents, Walter and Ethel Hayes, brothers, Hence, Cotton, Frank, Buford and Gabby Hayes and sisters, Mary “Bea” Mead and Laura Young in heaven.
He is survived by his loving children, Robbie (Dennis) Evans, Thomas Chris (Chrissy) Hayes, Teddy (Stephanie) Hayes, Donnie (Crystal) Hayes and Krissy Fish,grandchildren Courtney Evans (Billy) Cogdill, Ashley, Christian, Dallas, Chance,Johnathon,Sarah, Hunter, Preston, Joshua and Hannah Hayes and Tommy Workman. Great grandchildren, Jakob, Cogdill, Kendrick Hayes, Haileigh and Briana Hux, brother, Liston “Carroll” Hayes, Vineland, N. J., sister ,Essie Brown of Albemarle, N. C. special niece and helper Ethel Hayes and his companion and best friend Teresa Hayes. He had numerous nieces and nephews he loved like his children, honorary grandchildren, Paige, Zack, and Raven Nolan loved their “Pappy”.
Pallbearers will be his sons, Donnie, Chris and Teddy Hayes, son-in-law, Dennis Evans, P.J. Joyce and Shone Coker. Honorary pallbearers are Pete Hayes, Billy Cogdill and Coy Evans.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, September 18, 2008 at the Brown Funeral Home.
Funeral Service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, September 19, 2008 with Newport Police Chief Maurice Shults and Rev. Fred Gregg officiating,
Burial will be in Forrest Hill Cemetery.
