BY DUAY O’NEIL
NEWPORT—Pearl Ledford turned 90 years old on Saturday, Aug. 29, and was honored by her family with a party Sunday afternoon, Aug. 30, at Cocke County Convalescent Center, where she is a resident.
Born Aug. 29, 1925 in Cocke County, she is a daughter of the late Clifford Strange and Lola Ball, of the Rankin community.
A sister, Nita Verl Brown, is deceased.
The widow of Eulas Ledford, she is the mother of one daughter, Pat, wife of Tom Seehorn, and the proud grandmother of John Seehorn, who resides in Franklin, TN with his wife Melissa and their daughters Ellie and Carolina, and Ellen Seehorn Ratcliff, who lives in Sevierville. Rounding out the family are Ellen’s husband, Keith, and daughters Rebecca and Katherine.
A longtime member of Newport’s First Christian Church, the honoree worked many years at Tennessee Handbags in Dandridge and later at Falcon Industries in Newport.
For Sunday’s party, the honoree wore a purple outfit complemented by a fashionable scarf and a corsage of red roses. She received many cards and gifts and enjoyed visiting with the many family and friends who attended.
