Mary Kay Poe Roberts, age 90 of Knoxville, passed away Sunday, October 31, 2010, at Fair Park Health Care Center of Maryville. Mary Kay was a member of West Hills Baptist Church in Knoxville. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was born in Franklin, Indiana and joined the United States Marine Corps Women’s Reserve during World War II attaining the rank of Master Sergeant. While stationed in North Carolina she met her future husband and moved to Blount County following their marriage in 1946. She was preceded in death by parents, William C. and Viola Ann Poe; brothers, Russell, Raymond, Walter, Ross, Charles, and David Poe; sisters, Aura Records, Dorothy Pickerel, Harriet and Bertha Poe; and husband, Henry H. Roberts.
She is survived by children, Joyce Garmeson and husband Reginald of Alcoa, Bill Roberts and wife Judy of Greer, SC and Jeff Roberts of Knoxville; grandchildren Kelly (Bobby) Whedbee of Alcoa, Kimberly (Robin) Kermode of Lexington, KY, Beth (Brian) Smith of Maryville, Andy (Jill) Roberts of Atlanta, GA, Kate (Hans) Carlson of Charlottesville, VA and Leslie Huffine of Knoxville; great-grandchildren Jackson, Houston, and Kellen Whedbee; Joshua and Emily Kermode, Dylan, Olivia, Jacob, Johnathan, and Carlee Smith; and Lindy Roberts; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Charles and Mary Gene Roberts; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday in McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jack Pennington officiating.
Family and friends will meet at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the TN Veterans Cemetery in Knoxville for the interment service.
