Nellie (Helton) Watson, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 18, 2018 at the age of 96. Nellie married Wilford Watson and they had four children: Carolyn Vicars (husband Oscar), William Watson (former wife Kay), Linda Parks (husband Chauncey) and Jack Watson (wife Earlene).
Nellie is preceded in death by her husband Wilford Watson, who passed away at the age of 48. She is also preceded by her son William Watson, son-in-law Chauncey Parks, her parents William and Hattie Helton, brothers Mack, Wilburn, Elijah and Reese Helton, and her sister Zora Montgomery. She was a member of Mountain View Missionary Baptist Church where she attended as long as her health permitted.
Mrs. Watson was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be greatly missed by her children, Carolyn Vicars (husband Oscar), Linda Parks, and Jack Watson (wife Earlene); 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; sisters Juanita Abbott, Oliva Crisp and Annice Rogers; brothers Charlie and Lynn Helton; many nieces and nephews. A special thanks to all the caregivers at Asbury Place of Maryville for their care of our Mother. They were a true blessing through this difficult time.
The family will receive friends 2-4 PM Sunday, January 21st with funeral service to follow at 4 PM in the West Chapel of Atchley Funeral Home with Rev. Jack Hitch and Rev. Bill Helton officiating. Family and friends will meet 11 AM Monday, January 22nd in Mountain View Cemetery for graveside service and interment. Online condolences may be made at www.atchleyfuneralhome.com
