Ferman W. (Doc) Grigsby, age 87, of Newport, passed away Friday, February 7, 2003. E was a veteran of the United States Army. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Maggio Grigsby; daughter, Carman Rita Gowan; brothers, Waitsel, Lurlie, J.L., Paul, and Creed Grigsby; sisters, Bill Gowens, Alvertie Taylor, and Etta Nichols. He is survived by his step grandchildren, Marlene Kuyekendall, of Albany, La, Bonnie Williams, of French Settlement, LA, and Mark Guillot, of Rogersville TN; special nephew, Ronnie Grigsby, of Del Rio and special great-niece, Lorene Byrd, of New Market, TN; special friend, Evelyn Yates, of Del Rio; several great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews and a host of friends. Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Sunday, February 9, 2003, at the Mulberry Gap Cemetery with the Rev. Robert Ashley officiating. Family will receive friends 12 to 1:30 p.m. Sunday prior to the service at the funeral home. Manes Funeral Home is in charge.
