Ruby Freshour, age 84 of Karns, went to be with the Lord early Tuesday morning, October 28, 2008. Ruby attended Grace Baptist Church and loved participating in the Ladies Sunday School Class. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Ruby loved to cook and take care of her family and friends, especially during illness or other times of need. When she did take time for herself, she loved to draw and paint. Her other talents include playing the organ, sewing, gardening and preserving fruits and vegetables from her garden. Her parents, John and Mattie James; infant son, James Phil Freshour; infant, sister, Ruth Bell James; and brothers, Homer, Clydus and John D. James, preceded Ruby in death. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Samuel Freshour Sr.; sons and daughters-in-law, Samuel and Phyllis Freshour, Barry and Sandra Freshour; John and Bonita Freshour; grandchildren, Bryan, Adam, Renee, Emily, Caleb, Sarah, Joseph; great-grandchildren, Alex, Eva, Luke, Ellie, Abby and Hayden; sisters, Mary Dockery and Joyce Cox; brothers, Paul James, Jimmie James and Oscar James; several nieces and nephews; special friend, Nell Lane. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday followed by Celebration of Life at 6 p.m. in the Click Funeral Home Hardin Valley Chapel with Rev. Alfred T. Royer officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Ruby’s grandchildren. Family and friends will meet at 2 p.m. Friday at Faubion Cemetery in Parrotsville for graveside services and interment.
