Warren Addison Denton, 79, of Newport, died Sunday, May 28.
He was a member of the Newport Presbyterian Church; a former director of the Cocke County Farm Bureau; and he received the Conservation Farmer of the Year in 1971.
He was preceded in death by his son, Johnny Hart Denton; parents, William Addison and Irene Denton; and brothers, John and Hal Denton.
He is survived by his wife, Louise Watson Denton of Newport; son and daughter-in-law, Tommy and Terri Denton of Newport; daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and David Bilbrey of Knoxville; sisters, Eula Cooper and Maggie Suttle, both of Kingsport, and Beulah Wilds of Knoxville; and grandchildren, Jonathan and Brandon Denton, both of Newport, and Briana and Alex Bilbrey, both of Knoxville.
Funeral services will be held at 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Newport Presbyterian Church with Rev. Yale Gunn and Rev. Warren Mounts officiating, with burial at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Union Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Newport Presbyterian Church, prior to the funeral.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Newport Presbyterian Church, American Alzheimer’s Association, or the Stokely Memorial Library.
