Mr. John Patton Gregg, age 29, of Cosby passed away Saturday morning, August 25, 2007. He was a 1997 graduate of Cosby High School and was currently employed by Eastern Plating. He was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Gregg served as a reservist in the National Marine Corp. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Patton and Vicie Shults and great-grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Phillips. Mr. Gregg is survived by his parents, Steve and Diana Gregg of Cosby; sister, Melissa Gregg of Cosby; grandparents, John and Carrie Phillips of Cosby; uncles and aunts, and a special uncle, Paul Gregg of Newport, Johnny and Thelma Shults and Bob and Sue Shults, all of Cosby; Gene and Margie Shults, Annette Mason all of Newport, Bertis Glenn of Stillwater, OK, Tony and Katie Gregg, David and Cathy Gregg, John and Rosie Phillips, Kenneth Phillips, Randy Phillips, James and Jamie Phillips, Carol and Gay Williamson, Charlene and Micky Clark, Debbie and Robert Ford, and Ginger Phillips, all of Cosby. Additional survivors include several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends. Funeral services will be held 8 p.m. Tuesday, August 28, at Costner-Maloy Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Don Adams officiating. Family and friends will meet at 9:45 a.m., Wednesday, August 29, 2007 at Marty Shults Cemetery for the 10 a.m. interment. The East Tennessee Veterans Honor Guard will provide military honors. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday evening at Costner-Maloy Funeral Home prior to the service. Arrangements by Costner-Maloy.
