Eula Templin, age 84, of Newport died, Saturday, September 10, 2011. The daughter of the late Roy B. and Viola Halls Laws, Mrs. Templin was born June 7, 1927 in Hartford, Tennessee. For 64 years, Mrs. Templin had been a member of the Newport Church of Christ, where she taught the ladies bible class and children’s class for several years. A joyous person with a servant’s heart, Mrs. Templin worked as a volunteer with The Adult Literacy Program, The American Heart Association, and various other groups. An avid reader and history buff, Mrs. Templin was a lifelong learner. After raising her family, she continued her education and had a late-life career working in medical records at Cocke County Memorial Hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband James B. Templin; and son Gary Mark Templin. Survivors include daughter, Vondle (Alan) Shipley and grandsons Bo Shipley and Nathan Shipley of Knoxville; Brother Don (Minnie) Laws; Sisters Elaine (Johnny) Trent and Enid (Carl) Fish; Sisters-In-Law Johnnie Wilson, Polly Murrell, and Joyce Rolen; Brother-in-law Bill Templin; and a large extended family of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 3:30PM Sunday, September 11, 2011 at Brown Funeral Home with Ministers Tommy Golmon and John Daniels officiating. Burial will follow at the Templin-Baxter Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2-3:30PM, prior to the funeral service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Newport Church Of Christ Library or The American Heart Association.
