Bernard Barnes, 85, of Cosby, went to be with the Lord Sunday, May 18, 2003, at his residence following a lengthy illness.
He was a farmer and a Baptist by faith.
His wife, Jessie (Brown) Barnes; two infant children; father, Western Barnes; and several brothers and sisters preceded him in death.
He is survived by his son, Eulas Barnes, and his wife, Jane, of Cosby; grandchildren, Tommy Barnes, Ruthie and Lenora Barnes, Sherry and Eugene Gates, and Mary and Matt Le Clair; great-grandchildren, Heather Gates, Lori Ramsey, Josh Barnes, and Jessie and Emma Le Clair; two great-great grandchildren, Taylor Bird and Chloe Webb; and special niece, Gladys Hembree, of Newport.
Mr. Barnes will also be missed by several other nieces and nephews and a host of special friends and neighbors.
Funeral service will beTuesday, May 20, 2003, at 2:00 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Rex Norton officiating.
Interment will follow at Barnes Valley Cemetery.
The family received friends Monday evening, May 19, 2003, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.. at Brown Funeral Home.
Brown Funeral Home has been honored to provide the final arrangements for Mr. Bernard Barnes.
