Ralph Edward Justus, age 66 of Seymour, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 18, 2006, at 6:42 a.m. at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center in Knoxville after a brief battle with cancer. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church, Seymour, where he served as Music Director and Deacon. Ralph worked at Atchley Funeral Home, which he dearly enjoyed and considered it a ministry. He retired from Arnold Engineering of Sevierville. He was a member of The American Legion of Sevierville, Post 104, where he served as Vice-Commander and Chaplain. He served as a volunteer at The Sevier County Food Ministry located in Sevierville and CROSS Ministry in Seymour. He served our country proudly in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era with the rank of Specialist 4 from May 1, 1963 to April 30, 1965.
Ralph came from a large family and loved his immediate family and granddaughters dearly. He was a people person and loved them very much; he had an abundance of friends.
He was preceded in death by parents, Charlie and Grace Justus, sisters-in-law, Patt Justus and Imogene Justus, and brother-in-law, J.C. Arwood.
He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Mary Ellen; sons, Terry Justus of Seymour and former daughter-in-law Cozette Justus of Sevierville, Major Dwight Justus and wife Beth of Oklahoma City, OK, where he is serving in the United States Air Force; granddaughters, Summer Annette Justus and Angel Sue Justus of Sevierville; sisters, Dorothy Arwood, Faye McGarrahan and husband Ted, all of Seymour, and Annaree Shular and husband Fredie Jo of Seffner, FL; brothers, Ernest and wife Jean, Bill and wife Betty Jo, Kenneth and wife Jean, all of Seymour, David and wife Estine of Maryville, and Sammy and wife Kaye of Sevierville; brothers-in-law Norman Gibson and wife Elsie of Seymour and Hubert Gibson and wife Shirley of Sevierville. There are a great number of nieces and nephews.

The family sends many thanks to his many friends and Dr. Richard Rose, Dr. Daniel Ibach, Dr. Richard Grapski and the Nursing Staff on the Oncology Floor at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center in Knoxville.
Funeral service 7 PM Thursday at Grace Baptist Church, Seymour with Rev. Michael Justus and Rev. Ed Cloud officiating. Family and friends will meet 9:30 AM Friday at Atchley Funeral Home, Seymour to process to Highland South Memorial Gardens for a 10 AM graveside service and interment with Rev. Ernest Condee and Rev. Dallas Gibson officiating. Full military honors will be provided by American Legion, Post 104. Pallbearers will be his brothers, special friend Dan Stitzel, and brothers-in-law Norman and Hubert Gibson. The Deacons of Grace Baptist Church, Seymour will serve as honorary pallbearers.
