Loy Cecil Huskey, age 80 of Knoxville formerly of Maryville died Saturday August 18, 2001 at St. Mary's Hospital in Knoxville. He was a member of Oakland United Methodist Church of Greenback, retired from Handy and Harmon (formerly Greenback Industries), and following retirement he became an avid golfer at Royal Oaks. He served on a destroyer in the Pacific in the Navy during WWII. Pop was a loving husband, father and grandfather who quietly made the world a better place.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lonzo and Phoebe Cardwell Huskey; brothers, Bruce, Ashley, Clyde and Lee Huskey; and sisters Alice Watson and Sarah Ownby.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years Virl Huskey; son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Larry and Alta Huskey of Knoxville; grandsons and wives, Matt and Cindy Huskey of Hermitage, Tn., Brian and Jenny Huskey of Knoxville; sister, Muriel Lindsay of Montana; sister-in-law, Ruby Huskey of Sevierville; special friend, John Cochran; several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be 7:00 p.m. Monday at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home with Rev. Mary Parson and Rev. Austin Shamblin and Rev. Edward Adams officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Monday at the Funeral Home. Family and friends will meet at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at Lynnhurst Cemetery for the interment service. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to the Oakland United Methodist Church Mens Club, C/O Bobby Brown, 902 Rudd Rd., Greenback, TN 37742.
