Blanche M. Whaley , 75, a resident of Cashmere for the past 25 years, died Thursday evening, May 8, 1997, in Central Washington Hospital.
She was born Blanche M. Loveday on Feb. 3, 1922, to Marshall and Jana Lee (Dockery) Loveday in Sevier County, Tenn. She grew up and received her early education in Sevier County and on June 26, 1937, married Austin M. Whaley at Sevierville, Tenn.
In 1958, they moved to Peshastin, where Blanche worked at the Peshastin Fruit Growers. In 1960, she owned and operated the River Terrace Cafe in Leavenworth, until 1963. She then again was employed by Peshastin Fruit Growers until her retirement in 1976. In 1972, the family moved to Cashmere.
She was a member of the Walnut Grove Baptist Church in Walnut Grove, Tenn.
Blanche is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Tricia and Chris Hiatt of Cashmere; son and daughter-in-law, Herb and Marie Whaley of Cashmere; son and fiancee, Ralph Whaley and Sherri Fisher of Cashmere; son, Willie Whaley of East Wenatchee; one brother, Roy Loveday of Milwaukee, Wis.; three sisters, Alma McMahan, Rachel Whaley and Peggy Loveday, all of Sevierville, Tenn.; seven grandchildren, Carol Schall, David Whaley , Tara Whaley , Dale Whaley , Brian Whaley , Sarah Yeager and Jordan Yeager; four great-grandchildren, Ryan Whaley , Taylor Whaley , Kaley and Luke Schall; and a special friend and physician, Dr. David Notter. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Austin , in 1992; one daughter, JoAnne; four sisters; and three brothers.
Ward's Funeral Chapel, Leavenworth, is in charge of the arrangements.
