Joann Shults "Mrs. Arthur Shults", age 94 of Cosby, went to be with the Lord Thursday, February 26, 2015. She was a devoted farmer, a loving wife and grandmother. Joann enjoyed gardening and planting flowers.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Shults; mother, Lola Smith Horner; father, William Howard Horner; sisters, Grace Ryans, Dorthy Parson, and Nan Chancler; brothers, Ellis Horner, William "Dub" Howard Horner Jr., and J.C. Horner; step-children, Zinna Sutton, Evertt Shults, Janice Dockery, Trula Ramsey, Blanche Grooms, and Laura Shults.
Joann is survived by her daughters, Joyce Norton and husband, Rex, Tracy Shults; daughter-in-law, Judy Shults; grandson, Tyler Norton and girlfriend, Katie Myers; several grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Jean Horner; brothers, Jack Horner and wife, Ruby, Eugene Horner, George Horner, and Eddie Horner; sisters, Lillian Starnes and Marie Moore; nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends; special friends, Glenn Ellis, Danny Ellis, Sonny Ramsey, James Ramsey, and Kent Green.
The family wishes to extend their sincerest appreciation to Amedysis Hospice, Tennova of Newport, Dr. Daniels and his staff, and all the staff at the East Tennessee Nephrology Center.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 pm Sunday, March 1st at Atchley Funeral Home, Sevierville with the funeral service to follow at 7pm in the East Chapel with Ray Ball and Rev. Rex Norton officiating. Family and friends will meet 11am Monday in the Shults Family Cemetery for a graveside service and interment. Online condolences may be made at www.atchleyfuneralhome.com
