Dorothy Gladys Parton Trammell, 94, passed away Wednesday, December 2, 2015. She was born February 4, 1921 in the Park. Her family was one of the original families that were displaced due to the Smoky Mountain National Park. Dorothy described herself as a little mountain girl raised in the hills of the Smoky Mountains. Her tails of growing up in the area are published in the book, "Squirrel Gravy and Flour Sack Underwear". She was a wonderful and loving mother that encouraged her family to success. The legacy she leaves behind is that her three children received college degrees and her numerous nieces and nephews, as well as, a multitude of peoples' lives were touched by Dorothy's compassion and joy. She was a resident of Sevier County Health Care and was a member of Bearden Christian Church in Knoxville.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Costo S. Trammell; parents, Hubert and Margaret Parton; daughter, Pamela Sue Trammell; brother-in-law, Brownlee Reagan and his wife, Kelley.
Dorothy is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Rex and Hyla Trammell, C.L. "Buddy" and Brenda Trammell; daughter and son-in-law, Kay and Bob Stephens; granddaughter, Kimberly Trammell Ball; grandson, Thomas Bubba Trammell; four great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and beloved niece and caregiver, Edith Carol "Bunny" Reed.
The family wishes to express their sincerest appreciation to all the Staff in the West Wing of Sevier County Health Care for all their wonderful support and caregiving.

The family will receive friends 5-7 PM Friday with the service to follow at 7 PM in the Chapel of Atchley Funeral Home, Sevierville. Father Robert Beasley of Trinity Episcopal Church officiating.
