MORTON, FRED A., JR. - age 75, of Maryville, passed away at 1:10 a.m. Sunday, December 17, 2000, at Blount Memorial Hospital. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Maryville, retired educator from Blount County for 42 years, professional magician, member of Rockford Lodge 469 F&AM, Scottish Rite, Kerbela Shrine, Royal Order of Jesters, and International Brotherhood of Magicians. He was preceded in death by father, Fred A. Morton, Sr.; mother, Grace Fuller Morton.
He is survived by his wife, Aileen Owenby Flynn Morton; brothers and sisters-in-law, Bob and Mae Morton, John and Judy Morton, both of Maryville; sister, Wilma Morton; mother-in-law, Pearl Owenby; stepchildren, Dennis and Ann Flynn of Stockbridge, Ga., Mike and Denette Flynn, Pat and Carole Flynn, and Kelly and David Ferguson, all of Maryville; grandchildren, Stephanie, Heather, and Gena Flynn, Kim Evans, Kelley O'Donnell, Josh and Jennifer Flynn, Chris and Nicholas Flynn, Katy and Wesley Ferguson; great-grandchildren, Irisa and Adrian Exintadekas and Grayson Evans; nieces and nephews, Gayle Shuler, Phil Morton, Mike Morton and Diane Asbury. A multitude of friends and dear to his heart, the children of Blount County. Funeral and Masonic service 7:30 p.m. Monday, December 18, 2000, in the Trinity Chapel of Smith Mortuary with the Rev. Charles Ballard officiating. Entombment will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 19, 2000, at Grandview Mausoleum. Memorial donations may be made to Maryville 1st Baptist Church Family Life Center.
