Aaron (Bat) Marcus Atchley, 91, of Sevierville passed away Tuesday, January 11, 2005 at Fort Sanders Sevier Medical Center.
During WWII Bat served his country by enlisting in the army and fighting overseas for our freedom. After the war, he returned to his native Sevier County where he farmed and attended Middle Creek Methodist Church.
Preceding Bat in death is his wife, Iva Matthews Atchley; parents, Pink and Lula Wear Atchley; brother, John W. Atchley; sister, Jane Elizabeth Lawson.
Leaving behind to mourn his passing is his brother, Frank R. Atchley and wife Mary; sister, Olive Latham; several special nieces, nephews and a host of friends whose lives Bat has touched during his stay on earth.
Graveside service will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 13, 2005 at Shiloh Cemetery with Rev. Bobby Ely officiating. American Legion Post #104 will conduct military rites for Bat. The family will receive from 6-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 12 in the Davis Room at Rawlings Funeral Home.
