Rev. Michael Alvin Latham, 70, of Pfafftown, N.C., died July 31, 2004. He was a United Methodist minister.Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Aug. 4 at 3 p.m. at Fulton United Methodist Church in Advance N.C. Visitation was held Monday at Davie Funeral Service in Mocksville, N.C.

The Rev. M. Alvin Latham, 70, of Seward Road went to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 31, 2004, at his residence. Born in Sevier County, Tenn., on Nov. 11, 1933, he was the son of the late Michael and Mary Jane Hembree Latham. The Rev. Latham was an ordained Methodist minister of the Western N.C. Conference of the United Methodist Church. He attended Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, the Grange and was a board member of the John Wesley Camp Meeting in High Point. His wife, Ruth Elaine Craven Latham, preceded him in death. The Rev. Latham is survived by a son, Jonathan and wife Jennifer Latham of New York; two daughters, Letha Latham Burrow of Gibsonville and Michele Latham of Winston-Salem; a brother, Joe and wife Carolyn Latham of Ohio; three sisters, Ruth Maughn and Faye Fast of Ohio and Helen and husband Russell Bales of Tennessee; three grandchildren, John Wayne Pinnix II of Arizona, Dustin Michael Driver of Gibsonville and David Michael Latham of New York; three sisters-in-law, Blanche, Irene and Tisha Latham; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, five brothers and four sisters preceded the Rev. Latham in death. The funeral service for the Rev. Latham will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 4, at the Fulton United Methodist Church in Advance with the Rev. Karl Kelly, the Rev. Ardis Payne, the Rev. Glenn Stevens and the Rev. Mark Jensen officiating. He will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the funeral hour. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. today, Aug. 3, at Davie Funeral Service in Mocksville. Memorials may be made to The Children's Home Inc., 1001 Reynolda Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27104. Davie Funeral Service of Mocksville is serving the family of the Rev. Latham.
