Annice Wear Thomas, 93, of Kodak passed away Sunday, March 7, 2004 at her residence surrounded by her loved ones.
Annice was raised in the Hendersons Spring Community and after marrying Dewell S. Thomas she moved to Kodak where she and Dewell established their home. In their home they raised their son, Kent, and lived out the remainder of their lives.
While in the community they were active in the community and in their church, Kodak United Methodist Church. Besides raising her son, Annice was employed by both the Sevier County and Knox County School Systems. For many years she was the District Manager for Field Enterprises, which was selling World Book Products, retiring in 1975.
Annice was also a Charter Member and First Matron of Kodak Chapter #460 Order of the Eastern Star. Besides these activities she was the Past Regent of Spencer Clack Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and involved with both the Midway Chapter of the Family Community Education Club and her Sevier County High School graduating class of 1930.
Waiting for Annice in heaven is her husband, Dewell S. Thomas; parents, R.P. and Alice Helton Wear; sisters, Ina Roberts, Audra Ownby, Lora Hardin, Jean Parrott, Thelma McCall; brother, Robert Wear.
Leaving behind to mourn her passing, but celebrating the life she lived is her son, Kent Thomas and wife Vivian of Kodak; grandchildren, Norman K. Thomas and wife Tammy of Knox County, Julia Annice Huddleston and husband Charles T. of Tupelo, MS; great grandchildren, Kristin and Darin Thomas of Knox County, Kit and Chase Huddleston of Tupelo, Ms. Besides the immediate family Annice will be missed by her nieces and nephews, Glenda Atchley, Olive Kear, Sue Smith, Mary Alice Teague, Dr. Edward Wear, Ronald Ownby, Betty Lee Williams, Jim McCall and Gloria Shilling.
Service will be 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 9, 2004 at Kodak United Methodist Church with Rev Ty Harrison and Rev. Kim McCrosky officiating. The family will meet at Oak Grove Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 10 for interment. The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 8 at the Kodak United Methodist Church.
