Iva Matthews Atchley, 93 of Sevierville passed away Monday, October 25, 2004 at her residence surrounded by the ones who loved her. Mrs. Atchley was a member of the Pleasant Hills Methodist Church. Waiting for Iva to join them in heaven are her brothers Fred, Roy, and Byrd Matthews; sisters, Lillie Hodge, Flora Baker, and Dee Fay Spangler. She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Aaron Atchley; special niece and nephew, Charlotte Hubbs and husband Floyd, J.B. Matthews and wife Shirley; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Frank and Mary Atchley, Olive Latham, Evelyn Matthews. Besides the immediate family, Iva will be missed many nieces, nephews, the many children she taught in school and by a host of friends whose lives she has touched. Graveside service will be 2:00 Wednesday, October 27, 2004 at Shiloh Cemetery with Rev. Bobby Ely officiating. Those wishing to attend the service should meet at the cemetery. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the nurses of the UT Hospice for going beyond the call of duty to provide loving care for Iva during her illness. In lieu of flowers, Iva has requested that memorial donations be made to Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church.
