Died: 08-24-2004 Jackson (Jack) Stokely Freeman, 78, of Cosby, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, August 24, 2004, at Life Care Center of Morristown.
He was owner of Freeman’s Grocery for 49 years, and a member of Cosby Church of Christ. Jack served in the Navy during WWII and was a lifetime member of the DAV.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clayton Miles and Bertie (Teague) Freeman; daughter, Lorinda Dianne Freeman; and brothers, Claude Freeman and J.C. Freeman.
Jack is survived by his wife of 55 years, Beth (Ogle) Freeman, of Cosby; son, Larry Jack Freeman, of Cosby; granddaughter, Jackie Freeman, of Cosby; and brothers, Waldo Freeman and his wife, Evelyn, of Cosby, and Gary Freeman and his wife, Barbara, of Cosby.
Mr. Freeman will also be missed by several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Funeral service will be conducted Thursday, August 26, 2004, at 8:00 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Olie Williamson officiating.
Graveside service will be Friday, August 27, 2004, at 11:00 a.m. at Union Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Thursday evening, August 26, 2004, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home.
Military service will be conducted by LCPL Charles C. Roberts DAV Chapter 102 of Newport.
Pallbearers will be Charlie Ogle, Joe Ogle, Johnny Ogle, Bryan Freeman, Michael Vick, and Ronald Laws.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Cosby Church of Christ or the charity of your choice.
Brown Funeral Home has been honored to provide the final arrangements for Mr. Jackson (Jack) Stokely Freeman.
