BELL, CHESTER EUGENE - of Cosby, died Friday, April 2, 1999, at Baptist Hospital of East Tenn. Chester was a retired US Army first lieutenant and a veteran of World War II. He operated the Holiday Gulf Service Station in Newport for many years before retiring in 1984. He was a deacon of Liberty Church in Cosby. He was preceded in death by parents, James H. and Nancy Presnell Bell; brother, Edmund Bell; sisters, Frances Bell, Louise Bell Kyker; and great-grandson, Cory Caughron.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, ReVel Dorsey Bell of Cosby; five children, daughter, Eugenia (Jean) Seaton of Dandridge; daughters and sons-in-law, Betty Jo and Dan Ford, Jan and Jerry Caughron, all of Newport, Ginger Sue and Paul Cantrell of Gatlinburg; son and daughter-in-law, Tommy and Joyce Bell of Cosby; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; brothers, Clyde Bell of Hawthorne, Fla., Charles Bell of Newport, James Bell of Corpus Christi, Texas; sisters, Mary Bell Smith of Morristown, Hazel Bell Kuszmaul of Coatsville, Pa., Wilma Bell Proffitt of Newport and Dorothy Bell Ogle of Newberry, Fla. Funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at Liberty Church in Cosby with Rev. Rick Mehaffey and Rev. Frank Bel officiating with burial at Ogle's Chapel Cemetery immediately following the service. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Sunday evening at Manes Funeral Home. Manes Funeral Home in charge.
