Mrs. ReVel D. Bell of Cosby passed away on Friday, September 4, 2015 at the age of 92. After meeting her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, we are sure the next arms waiting to welcome her to Heaven were those of her soul mate and husband of 57 years, Chester E. Bell. She was one of the last people living in Cocke County born in what is now Great Smoky Mountains National Park. A gifted homemaker, she sewed her children’s clothing, canned their favorite fruits and vegetables, and much to the delight of her five children, baked special cakes for every occasion. Her kitchen door was always open to everyone and she was never too busy to put a meal on the table any time of day. She developed a special love for each and every one of her grandchildren. They, in turn, loved her with a closeness beyond description. People came from miles around to see ReVel’s flower gardens. She was often outside from daylight until dark digging, raking, planting and pruning. Every seed, every bulb and every sprout was planted with love and given to any who would ask. Her special flower arrangements were regularly seen at church and at other special community events. A devoted Christian, she was often found playing her favorite hymns on her old piano. She began attending Liberty Church of Cosby when she was seven years old and attended faithfully until her health prevented her from doing so. ReVel was preceded in death by her parents Thomas Stanberry Dorsey and Charity Roxanna Ogle Dorsey; husband Chester E. Bell; daughter Eugenia (Jean) Seaton; great-grandsons Robert Cory Caughron and A. J. Seaton; sisters Gona Holt and Mabel (Mae) Owenby; and brother Homard (Pot) Dorsey. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law Betty Jo and Daniel Ford and Jan and Jerry Caughron; daughter Ginger Cantrell; and son and daughter-in-law Tommy and Joyce Bell; grandchildren Eugene (Tank) Seaton and wife Vicky, Angela Seaton Douglas, Chad Seaton, Kevin Ford, Karen Ford Martin and husband John III, David Caughron and wife Ginger, Christy Caughron, Kimberly Cantrell Frye, and Christy Reek and husband Brett; great-grandchildren Bobbie Douglas, Sky Seaton, Cadence Seaton, Taylor Ford, Madison Ford, John Martin IV, Josie Kate Martin, Katie Caughron, Ellie Caughron, Jesse Goforth, Savanna Bell Ross, Jack Frye, Austin Gilland and Holly Gilland; special niece and nephew Shirley Holt Hale and Billy Holt; also other family and friends. The family would like to say a special “Thank You” to the staff at Brookdale Senior Living and Smoky Mountain Home Health and Hospice for all their loving care during ReVel’s illness. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm Sunday, September 6, 2015 at Manes Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Monday, September 7th, 2015 at Liberty Church of Cosby, with Pastor John Rush and Rick Mehaffey officiating. Burial will follow in Ogle’s Chapel Cemetery. Arrangements by Manes Funeral Home.
