February 21, 1952 - April 27, 2014
Helms, Robert Earl " Bob", "Gator", age 62, of Knoxville went home to be with The Lord on Sunday, April 27, 2014. He owned and operated Helms Shoe Repair in Sevierville for several years. He was a proud veteran serving with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He enjoyed trout fishing, leather works and spending time with his family and many friends, and best little buddy Buckwheat! There will never be another one like brother Bob. He was definitely one of a kind. He is preceded in death by parents Earl and Jeanette Helms; brother Christopher Kevin Helms; nephew Joshua Shane Helms. He is survived by brothers and spouses Rick Helms, Kenneth and Debra Helms and Scott and Robin Helms; nephews, David, Ryan and Colby Helms; niece, Mary Beth Shahan Helms; great nephew Eli Helms and his mother Stevie; great nieces Macy and Vickie Shahan; and special friends who were like brothers, Randal Maples, Mike King, and Ronnie Massengill; along with a host of lifelong friends who were always there for him. Special thanks to Robin and Colby for your love and support for brother Bob who loved you dearly; and Margie, he looked to you like a mother. Thank you for loving our brother. Services will be on Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at 7:00pm at Berry Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tim McLin and Rev. Rick Nichols officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00pm prior to the service. Family and friends will meet on Thursday, May 1, 2014 at 12:00pm for a graveside service at Woodlawn Cemetery. Family would like to extend special thanks to Adam, Tyler, and Robyn with U.T. Trauma Unit; Palliative Care; and the staff on 12 East at U.T. Hospital. Many thanks to Kim Ardell and Wilma Davenport with the Johnson City V.A. Hospital. Thank you all for the many prayers and concerns you have shown for our family. Condolences may be offered at www.berryfuneralhome.com Arrangements under the direction of Berry Funeral Home, Knoxville, TN.
