Marshall B. Fox, 90, of the Waldens Creek community, went home to join the many loved ones who are waiting for him in heaven. Marshall began his glorious journey on Thursday, December 11, 2003 at Sevier County Health Care Center.
Marshall was born in Sevier County and spent his life living and serving in the Waldens Creek Community. In 1934 he went to work for the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) working as a stone mason building arches, bridges and one of his greatest accomplishments, the building of the tower at Mt. Cammerer in the Great Smoky Mountain National Park which are still standing as a testament to the quality of his work. In service to his community he was a charter member of the Waldens Creek Volunteer Fire Department. In addition to his community service he was a lifelong member of the Waldens Creek United Methodist Church where he served his God.
Waiting for Marshall to join them in their heavenly home is his wife, Geneva Perryman Fox; granddaughter, Jennifer Barker; parents, Riley and Eliza Huff Fox; 11 brothers and sisters.
Leaving behind to celebrate his life and achievements, but to mourn his passing are his children, Dr. William R. Fox and wife Mary Hester of Starkville, MS, Dr. H. Eddie Fox and wife Mary Nell of Nashville, TN, Judy Fox Barker and husband Dr. Bill Barker of Sevierville; grandchildren, Robert, Andrew and Gib Fox, Tim and Tom Fox, Gaye Nell Heck, Mary Christina Barker; great grandchildren, Will, Shawn, George, and Jillian Fox, Arden, Grayson, Jasmine, and Riley Gage Fox, Will and Simon Heck. In addition to the immediate family, Marshall leaves behind a legacy of many other relatives and a host of friends whose life he has touched in some way during his service to his God and community.
Service will be 1:30 p.m. Sunday, December 14, 2003 at Waldens Creek United Methodist Church with Pastors David Smith, Barbara Lay and Dr. H. Eddie Fox officiating. Interment will follow the service at Shiloh Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. Saturday, December 13 at Rawlings Funeral Home.
Marshall’s grandchildren will have the honor of serving as pallbearers for their beloved grandfather.
