Flynn, Ruth Elizabeth McMahan –age 94, of South Knoxville, passed away on Wednesday, June 28, 2006. She was a member of Meridian Baptist Church and Bethany Sunday school class. Ruth was treasurer of L.L.L. Adult group for many years. She taught school in Sevier County, Lenoir City, and Knoxville City schools for 36 years and retired from Sequoyah School after 27 years as a third-grade teacher. She graduated from East Tennessee State University with studies at Berea College and the University of Tennessee. Preceded in death by parents, John Q. and Sitha Clark McMahan; husband, John Pearl Flynn; son, David Flynn; grandson, Darrell Flynn; brothers, Herbert and wife, Rose Lee McMahan, Clark and Earl McMahan.
Survivors
Survived by sister, Reba and husband, Gordan Hayes; daughter-in-law, Olaf (Dodie) Flynn; granddaughter, Constance Flynn Arwood and husband, David; great-grandson, David Cole Arwood; sisters-in-law, Maxine McMahan and Ima Ruth Heidt; nephew, Brian McMahan; nieces, Darlena French and Betty Adams; great-nephews, Clark and Eric French, Isaac, Scott and Jeremy Adams; great-niece, Ashley Adams and two great-grand nieces.
Service
The family will receive friends from 12 Noon-2 PM on Saturday in the chapel of Berry Funeral Home, Chapman Highway, with funeral service to follow at 2 PM with Rev. Dana Fachman officiating. Family and friends will meet at Shiloh Cemetery, Pigeon Forge, on Sunday for 2 PM interment services.
