David Paine Waters, 75, of Sevierville, died at 8 p.m. Friday Aug. 25, 2000 at the home of his sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. R. B. (Pete) Hailey.
A veteran of World War II, he served as a lieutenant in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He was a past master of the Mountain Star Lodge No. 197, Free and Accepted Masons, and a charter member of Gatlinburg Lodge BPOE #1925. He graduated from the University of Tennessee and was in the real estate business for many years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Geneva. His parents were J.B. and Myrtle Paine Waters.
Survivors include his son, David Paine Waters II and wife Tammy; daughters, Susie Paine Davis and husband Walter D., LouAnn Dykhouse and husband Garry; sister, Mary Louise Hailey and husband R.B. (Pete); brother, John B. Waters Jr. and wife Patsy Temple; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service is 7 p.m. Monday in the West Chapel of Atchley Funeral Home with the Rev. Bobby Ely officiating. Interment is 10 a.m. Tuesday in Shiloh Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Sevier County Library Building Fund, 321 Court Avenue, Sevierville, TN. 37862.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
