Edith Swann Carter, 74, of Seymour, died Thursday, July 5, 2001 at the Baptist Hospital of East Tennessee in Knoxville.Mrs. Carter was a Methodist by faith.Her parents were San and Bertha Rolen Howard. She was also preceded in death by two sisters.She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Joseph Carter Sr.; sons and daughters-in-law, Joe Jr. and Brenda Carter, Phil and Sharon Carter, Larry and Pam Carter, Jerry and Pam Carter, all of Seymour; daughter, Teresa Carter, all of Seymour; sister and brother-in-law, Ila and Ace Adams of Knoxville; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; several new-found family members in middle Tennessee; and several nieces, nephews and friends.Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 8 at Boyds Creek Cemetery with the Rev. Charles Maynard officiating. Interment will follow the service. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday, July 7 in the Davis Room of Rawlings Funeral Home.
