Sheryl Maxine Reagan Johnson of Kingston, Tennessee, passed away Sunday, July 27, 2008, at her home on the Tennessee River. Sheryl was born on February 28, 1946, to Ruth Bernice Cameron Reagan and Max Love Reagan. She graduated from Sevier County High School and the University of Tennessee. At UT, Sheryl was a member of Sigma Kappa sorority and was chosen Kappa Alpha Rose. She remained an ardent fan of the Volunteers throughout her life. After graduation she married Wesley Martin Johnson, Jr., who she met at UT. She was a full-time elementary school teacher until the birth of her two boys, Scott and Steve, and she served as a substitute teacher for many years. Sheryl and Wes retired back to Tennessee in 1995 after almost thirty years living in the Northern Virginia area. Sheryl was a member of the Church of Christ, most recently worshipping with the Hardin Valley Congregation.
Sheryl is survived by Wes, her husband of forty-one years; her two boys Scott and Steve; their wives Jennifer and Rachel; grandchildren Reagan, Mackenzie, Casey, Cameron, and Andrew; her sister and brother-in-law Caroline (Chig) and Craig Polakowski; her brother and sister-in-law Rex and Margy Reagan; her niece and nephew Lillian and Brooks Reagan; her aunt Grace Hardin; and numerous cousins.
The family will receive friends at the Farragut Church of Christ on Thursday, July 31, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., with a memorial service to follow at 8pm. A graveside service will take place on Friday, August 1, at 10 a.m. at Oak Ridge Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers the family is setting up a charitable fund in Sheryl's honor.
