WHITED , MELVIN - age 83, of Knoxville, died Friday May 18, 2001 at Fort Sanders Park West Hospital. He was of the Baptist faith and attended for over 20 years, Beaver Ridge United Methodist Church. He was an active Mason in Titusville, Fla. and retied electrician with Union Carbide, Oak Ridge. He was an avid golfer at Dead Horse Golf Course. Preceded in death by wife, Madge Whited . He is survived by wife, Rose W. Whited of Knoxville; sons and daughters in law, Ray and Gay Whited of Carthage, Danny and Sharon Whited of Knoxville, Gene and Dee Whited of Apache Junction, Ariz.; daughters and son in law, Pat and Melvin Schill of Oak Ridge and Sue Whited of Idaho Falls, Idaho; 15 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren; sons and daughters in law, Dewey and Betty Wilkinson of Knoxville, and Bill and Sharon Wilkinson of Ten Mile; daughters and sons in law, Charlotte and Ed Butler, Lou and Skip Dailey, Sue and Jack McReynolds, Lynda and Douglas Stancell, Nancy Cox and Phyllis Wilkinson , all of Knoxville; 32 grandchildren and 44 great grandchildren; sister, Mae Purvis of Cincinnati, Ohio. Funeral service 8 p.m. Monday Rose Mortuary Mann Heritage Chapel with Rev. C.V. Duff officiating. Family and friends will meet at 11:15 a.m. Tuesday at Edgewood Cemetery for an 11:30 a.m. graveside service and interment. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Beaver Ridge United Methodist Church, c/o Fellowship Class, 7753 Oak Ridge Hwy., Knoxville, Tenn. 37931. Arrangements by Rose Mortuary Mann Heritage Chapel.
