Irene Huskey died May 31, 2008, at the age of 93, of natural causes, in Meridian, Idaho at the home of her son and daughter-in -law, Jan and Judy Huskey . Services will be held on June 7th, 11 a.m. at the Meridian Idaho West Stake Center, 1985 Black Cat Road. A viewing will be held at the church from 10-10:40 a.m. prior to the services, where friends may come to visit with the family. Arrangements are under the direction of Zeyer Funeral Chapel, Nampa. Irene Elizabeth Loveland Huskey was born Oct. 10, 1914, in Chesterfield, Idaho, to Chauncey C. and Lilly Loveland . She was the second in a large family with six daughters and one son. In 1918, her family moved to the area northeast of Nampa where she resided all of her life. Education was important to Irene . She graduated from Nampa High School in 1932. She achieved her lifelong dream and graduated from Brigham Young University in 1976 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Independent Studies at the age of 68. Irene married Harold Huskey on June 4, 1938. Their marriage was later solemnized in The Idaho Falls Temple. They had five children. She was an industrious woman with a strong work ethic. In addition to raising her children, she had many jobs. She worked in production for Simplot's and Birdseye. She was a community reporter for the Nampa Free Press and Meridian Times. Every election year, Irene volunteered for the Election Board. She ended her professional career by working for 14 years at the Idaho State School and Hospital. Most important in Irene 's life was her family and her religion. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was an original member of the Nampa Second Ward and was involved in building the old church on 11th Ave North. Most recently, Irene was a member of the Peregrine Ward. She held various church positions, the most recent as librarian. She served as Primary and Relief Society President, Sunday School and Primary Teacher, and was a Visiting Teacher all of her life. Upon her retirement from the state, she worked at the Boise Idaho Temple. Irene was preceded in death by her husband, Harold; her eldest son Darryl on June 16, 1998, her sisters Josie in 2001, and Lillian in 2003. She leaves behind her children: daughter-in-law Zoreatha Huskey of Boise, Ritchie and Judy Huskey of Redding, Calif.; Lyn and Georgina Huskey of Los Angeles, Calif., Jan and Judy Huskey of Meridian, Idaho, and Gayla Huskey of Nampa, Idaho. 17 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and her siblings, Grace Raft, Shirley Zeyer, Margaret Platt and Carlos Loveland mourn her passing.
