Mac Murphy, 97, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Wednesday (July 16, 2014) at Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, Missouri.The son of Alverta Westley and Esther Fertina (Gramling) Murphy, he was born May 2, 1917 in Milan, Missouri. Mac was united in marriage on December 8, 1935 in Milan, Missouri, to Ula Ogle, who survives.Mac is also survived by two sons, Dennis Murphy of Green City, MO; and Tandy Murphy and wife Mary of Kirksville, MO; one daughter, Phyllis Michaleck of Moberly, MO; ten grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren.
Mac was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Phillip Murphy; one sister, Bernice Gooch; one grandchild, Adam Murphy; and one great grandchild, Levi Fenton.He received his education in the Pleasant Grove School Mac moved from Milan to Green City and eventually to Kirksville in 1959. He farmed all his life and worked for several businesses throughout Green City and Kirksville. Mac was employed for the Green City Sale Barn for fifteen years, the Kirksville Sale Barn for a few years, Kirksville area hotels for ten years and the Robo Car Wash.Mount Olivet Cemetery near Green City, Missouri.
