MSG Edward "Eddy" Dodgin, 65, of Mountlake Terrace, and a former Peshastin, Washington resident, died Wednesday June 18, 2008, in the Stevens Memorial Hospital in Edmonds.
He was born April 11, 1943, to Charlie and Flora (Whaley) Dodgen in Sevier County. Eddy grew up in Sevierville, where he received his education, graduating from Sevier County High School in 1961. On March 19, 1962 he married Earnestine (Tina) Whaley at Bryson City, N.C. In 1963 he enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving in North Carolina and later California, where Eddy attended college, receiving a degree in business. He later was stationed in France and Germany. He served a tour of duty in Vietnam, where he was a member of the Green Berets. Following Vietnam, he was stationed in Belgium and later in Iran. They later returned to California, where he received his honorable discharge on May 1, 1983. Following his retirement they moved to Mountlake Terrance to make their home. He was a member of the National Rifle Association.
Survivors include three sons, Gregory S. (Yoshimi) Dodgin, Clifford K. (Laura) Dodgin all of Mountlake Terrace, Wash., and Michael J. (Sheryl) Dodgin of San Jose', Calif.; two grandchildren. Two sisters, Jean Maples and Bess King both of Sevierville; brother, John Dodgen of Sevierville.
A graveside service of Commemoration to Celebrate the lives of Eddy and Tina Dodgin was held Saturday afternoon, June 28, 2008, in the Peshastin Cemetery. Ward's Funeral Chapel, Leavenworth, is in charge of the arrangements.
