Mildred Ruffner Brown, 89, of Oliver Springs, and a former resident of the Coalfield community, died Monday, Feb. 7, 2005, at Baptist Hospital of East Tennessee in Knoxville, from complications of pneumonia.
She was born April 8, 1915, in Harriman.
Mrs. Brown was a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church. She had previously worked at Coalfield School in the cafeteria and later at One Hour Martinizing in Oak Ridge and Clinton.
In addition to her parents, Charles F. and Bessie E. Manning Hampton , Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by her first husband, Earl H. Ruffner ; her second husband, Raymond E. Brown; one son, Thomas E. Ruffner ; and two brothers and one sister, Rev. Frank Hampton , Russell C. Hampton , and Cordie Beason.
She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Morrow and husband, Dwight, of Clinton; her son, Randy Ruffner and wife, Nancy, of Mt. Juliet; her daughter-in-law, Ida V. Ruffner of Oliver Springs; eight grandchildren, Lindsey Morrow, Gina Ruffner , Deana R. Hudson, Dwight Thomas Clark, Rev. Mickey Clark, Randy R. Ruffner , Ricky Ruffner and Missy R. McBee; 17 great-grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law, Molee Ruffner Fezzie and husband, Frank, of Kingsport, and Geraldine D. Hampton of Harriman.
She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and extended family members, and a host of special friends, including Mrs. Burley Jenkins of Oliver Springs.
The funeral will be at 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 10, 2005, in the chapel of Sharp Funeral Home in Oliver Springs, with the Rev. Garvan Walls, the Rev. Keith Price and the Rev. Mickey Clark officiating.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 11, at the Davis Cemetery in Coalfield.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
