Albert "Al" Garland Hamilton passed away on May 8, 2014, in Boerne, Texas. Al was born December 22, 1927, in Tupelo, Mississippi, to A. G. Hamilton and Minnie Lee Hamilton.
Al is survived by his wife, Sandra Martin Hamilton of Boerne, Texas; daughter, Lisa Hamilton Youngdahl of Wayzata, Minnesota; daughter,, Lucy Lee Hamilton of Midland, Texas; son, Stephen Lee Hamilton of Denver, Colorado; and stepson, Michael Allison of Albuquerque, New Mexico; and six grandchildren. Al was preceded in death by father, Arthur Garland Hamilton; mother, Minnie Lee Hamilton; sister, Martha Frances (Ham) Embree; brother, Jack Spencer Hamilton; and brother, William Calvin Hamilton.
Al was a graduate of Mississippi State University and the University of Texas Law School, and served honorably with the United States Navy during World War II. Al had a long and storied professional career serving as a certified public accountant, attorney at law, oil man, industrialist, banker and rancher, and served as CEO, advisor and board member to numerous companies and charitable organizations. Al was an accomplished tennis player, pilot, woodworker and storyteller, and will be remembered as a wonderful husband and father, and a strong and innovative businessman and professional.
The funeral will be held Monday, May 12, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. at St. John Lutheran Church. Interment will follow at the Boerne Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. John Lutheran Church of Boerne Building Fund, P.O. Box 1081, Boerne, Texas 78006; to Young Life Boerne-Texas Office, P.O.
