Robert Sheilds (Bob) Burnett of Knoxville, 79, born Sept. 5, 1926, died Monday, July 24, 2006. Sheilds was a member of Marbledale Baptist Church, and served with the U.S. Army. He was preceded in death by his former wife and mother of his sons, Catherine Burnett Smallfield; parents Oscar and Agnes Burnett; brothers and sister, J.W., Richard Douglas, and Dorothy Ann Burnett. Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Janine Burnett, Phillip and Sebrina Burnett; granddaughters Heather M., Lindsay B., and Madison S. Burnett; brothers and sisters-in-law, Earl and Stella Burnett, Donald and Gail Burnett and Bonnie (Bunt) Burnett; sisters and brothers-in-law, Margaret Woods, Irene Duggan, Wanda and A.J. Cox; many nieces, nephews and friends; very special friend Georgia Houser. Friends and family met Thursday, July 27, 2006 at the Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery for an interment service with full military honors provided by the East Tennessee Veterans Honor Guard. The family gives special thanks to Baptist Hospice, Zonna Gilbert and Phyllis Pollard. In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions be made to the building fund of Marbledale Baptist Church, 5935 Thorngrove Pike, Knoxville, TN 37914.
