Mr. Oatis Richard Gossett, age 42, of Newport, passed away Sunday, October 27, 2013, at his home.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents Rodrick and Martha Gossett and Ray and Francis Newman, great-grandfather Ottis Morefield, aunt Tootie Dockery and uncles Tom, Bruce, and Bill Newman.
He is survived by his son Oatis ‘Richie’ Gossett II of the home, daughter Brittany Gossett of Morristown, father Frank (Lisa) Gossett of Newport, mother Lucille Newman of Newport, brothers Bobby and Johnathon Gossett and sister Martha Styles, all of Newport.
Additional survivors include uncles Dennis (Amanda) Gossett, Jim (Kathy) Gossett, and Steve (Gail) Gossett, all of Newport, Dave, Sonny, and Albert Newman, all of Morristown, aunt Mattie Reed of Morristown, nephews Scott Brown of Newport and Austin Rodgers of Morristown, nieces Tonya (Jeremy) Luellen, Sonya and Addyson Styles, all of Newport, and a host of cousins and special friends.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 30, 2013, at the Gossett Family Cemetery with Pastor Johnny Hayes officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Costner-Maloy Funeral Home.
