Ruby Lucille Lewis, 83, of Newport, went to be with her Lord suddenly Sunday, February 18, 2001, at the Baptist Hospital of Cocke County.
She was a member of Dutch Bottoms Baptist Church where she taught the ladies’ Sunday School class for 51 years.
Her husband, Neil Lewis, daughter, Mary Ruth Lewis, granddaughter, Julie Ann Holt, parents, Carlton and Gypsy Hannah Vinson, brother, Stanley Vinson, and sister, Alma Greene, preceded her in death.
She is survived by her sons, Earl Lewis, of Bybee; Jimmy Lewis, of Newport; David Lewis and his wife, Shirley, of White Pine; son, Charles Lewis and his wife, Karen, of Newport; daughters, Marie Cook, Jenny Bailey, and Gladys Holt, all of Newport, Ruby Rice and her husband, Danny, of Newport, Imogene James and her husband, William, of Newport; grandchildren, Stanley Lewis, Chris James, Jennifer Cook, Jessica Lewis, Nicky Lewis, Tyler Bolton and Nicholas Charles Lewis, all of Newport; great-grandchildren, Lashae Lewis and Jacey Brinkley, both of Newport; sisters, Edna Hedrick, of Dandridge, Ruth Smith, of Newport; and one brother-in-law, Mack Green, of Ohio; sisters-in-law, Sarah Vinson, Rachel Parker, Hazel Ramsey and Myrtle Stewart, all of Newport, and Ethel Warner, of Knoxville; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.
Funeral service will be held Wednesday, February 21, 2001, at 2 p.m., at Dutch Bottoms Baptist Church, with Rev. Manson Lee officiating. Interment will be at Dutch Bottoms Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening, February 20, 2001, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., at Brown Funeral Home.
