Ollie Bell Queen Johnston , 77, of Athens, died Friday, May 24, 2013, at her residence.
A native and resident of Athens for most of her life, she was a daughter of the late Samuel Russell and Stella Mae Wyatt Queen and was preceded in death by four brothers, Sam Queen , Bill Queen , T.I. Queen and Jack Queen ; one sister, Mary Queen Malone; and one grandchild, Casey Vestal. She was retired from the Tennessee Hosiery Mill.
Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Glenn Avery Johnston ; three sons and daughters-in-law, Bill and Claudette Johnston of Athens, Jerry and Sue Johnston of Niota, and Chuck and Julie Johnston of Philadelphia; four daughters and sons-in-law, Jackie and David Jackson of West End, N.C., Cindy Pierce and Dennis Holt of Sweetwater, Mary and Will Prock of Etowah, and Patty Rickman and Trent Allen of Lenoir City; one sister, who was also her best friend, Dorothy Cox of Athens; 20 grandchildren, Chris McPherson, Heather Clause, Christy Benton, Jordan Johnston , Matt Johnston , Brad Johnston , Chesney Johnston , Ivey Johnston , Creek Johnston , Abby Johnston , Kyker Johnston , Joshua Pierce, Emily Pierce, Derrick Vestal, Olivia Vestal, Conner Vestal, Maurice Vestal, Hayden Gibson, Lauren Rickman and Garrett Rickman; 19 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services were 2 p.m. Monday in the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with the Rev. Wayne Bryant officiating.
The family received friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
