Patricia "Pat" Carter, age 67, of Newport went to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 30, 2013 after a brave battle with cancer. She was a faithful member of New Zion AME Church and worked for 37 years at Con Agra. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was preceded in death by her mother, Margaret Stewart; niece Miranda Hill; son, daughter in law and grandson Jerome (Delisia) and Ethan Carter. She is survived by James Dan Carter, her husband of 37 years; daughter Rosalind Stewart-Reed; sons Charlie (Rachael) Stewart, Jason (Melinda) Carter, Stacy Porter and Marcus (Lora) Carter; 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; sister, Janice (Bill) Hill and brother, Ricky (Janice) Stewart. Special thanks to Clarice Stewart and special friend Cherlaine Woods, devoted friends who stood by her until the end. Visitation will be held Sunday, June 2, 2013 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at Manes Funeral Home with services to follow at 3:00 pm. Burial will follow at Gum Springs Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to family at 502 Birch Street, Newport, Tennessee 37821.
