UPCHURCH , VERNA ( VERNIE ) BELL age 99 passed away peacefully on February 11, 2013 at Kindred-North Haven Nursing Home in Knoxville, TN. She was born February 7, 1914 in Sevierville, TN. Verna was a member of Sunny View Baptist Church in Powell, TN. where she attended regularly for many years, until her health declined. She was active in many programs, especially Vacation Bible School and the programs involving children. Preceded in death by her parents, Mitchell and Vina Clabough; brothers, Seldon and Tom Clabough; sisters, Evelyn Clabough, Margaret Castleberry, Juanita Chadwell and Mae May; husband, William (Bill) Upchurch ; daughter, Lena Hillard and son Gary Upchurch . Survived by son, Wayne Upchurch ; son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Brenda Upchurch , all of Knoxville; loving sister Elsie Sorey of Knoxville; seven grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren and eleven great-great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews; special friend Betty Keith. The family would like to thank the staff of Kindred-North Haven Nursing Home for the loving and compassionate care given to Verna during her stay there and her passing. Family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00-8:00 pm at Weavers with chapel service to follow at 8:00 pm. Family and friends will meet 10:45 am Wednesday at Bell's Campground Cemetery for an 11:00 am interment. Condolences may be made at www.weaverfuneralservices.com Arrangements by Weaver Funeral Home.
