Donald Lee Carpenter , age 68, of Maryville, passed away Friday, February 18, 2005, at Blount Memorial Hospital. He was a member of Carpenters United Methodist Church. He was United States Marine Corps helicopter pilot veteran, serving two tours in Korea and three tours in Vietnam.
Survivors include: wife, Jean Latham Carpenter ; sons, Donald Carpenter Jr. and his wife Judy, of Memphis, Charles Cecil Carpenter ; daughters, Brenda Kay Burress and her husband Dennis, Sandra Dee Turner and husband Tommy, all of Memphis; children, Cynthia Diane Cupp and her husband Johnny, Gerald Timothy Spence and his wife Angela, Douglas Kent Spence and his wife Carol, Penny Michelle Relation and her husband Tim, all of Maryville; 15 grandchildren and one great-grandchild; sister, Margaret ''Peggy'' Cooper of Maryville.
The family will receive friends 2:00 to 2:45 p.m. Monday, February 21, 2005, at Carpenters United Methodist Church with a brief eulogy to follow. A graveside service will follow in the church cemetery with Rev. Kenneth Tucker, Rev. Chris Boruff, and John Cupp officiating. Full military honors will be provided by The Lt. Alexander Bonnyman Detachment #924 Marine Corps League. The family suggest no flowers and that memorials be made to Carpenters United Methodist Church, 3538 Best Road, Maryville, TN 37803.
