Rebecca Headrick Cotter, 106, of Wears Valley went home to be with her Heavenly Father and other family members who were waiting for her to join them on July 24, 2005. Rebecca began her glorious journey at Sevier County Health Care Center.
As the last surviving member of the John Jeptha Headrick and Sara Ellen King Headrick family, Rebecca has seen many changes during her lifetime. Rebecca was born and raised in Wears Valley and this is where she raised her family and where her heart remained. As a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Wears Valley, Rebecca served her Lord and community by showing what true love is all about. Rebecca loved to read her Bible and constantly searched for new material to devour in her quest for knowledge.
Besides her parents, Rebecca’s husband, John A. Cotter, brothers James H. and Earl Headrick, sisters, Ethel and Hulda Headrick were waiting for her to join them in Heaven.
Leaving behind to mourn her passing, but celebrating the life she lived is her daughter, Betty Dodgen and husband Lee of Wears Valley; grandchildren, Dottie Ball, Earl Dodgen and wife Karen, Sara Lynn Reynolds and husband Jeff, Susan Lea Dodgen; great grandchildren, Cheri Daugherty, Stephanie Lane; great-great grandchildren, Bryson and Cameron Daugherty and Carson and Bailey Lane. Besides the immediate family, Rebecca will be missed by numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends whose lives she has touched during her life.
A celebration of Rebecca’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 27, 2005 at Rawlings Funeral Chapel with Rev. Roy Gose officiating. Interment will follow the celebration in Headricks Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 26 at Rawlings Funeral Home.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the nurses and staff at Sevier County Health Care Center for the abundance of love and care they provided for Rebecca and comfort extended to the family during this trying time.
