Wilbur Curtis Keys, 89, went home to be with our Lord Sunday evening April 13, 2008. He was a member of Blue Springs Baptist Church.
Mr. Keys was a veteran of World War 11 having served with the United States Army. He retired from IBEW 175 and was a member of the Rossville Masonic Lodge. He had made his home in Cleveland since 1950.
He was born in Woodstation, Ga., April 23, 1918 to the late Gus and Essie Garrett Keys. He was preceded in death by sisters, Dathene Keys and Tommie Talley and one brother Garl Keys.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Irene Ownby Keys, daughter and son-in-law, Leslie and George Crye of Cleveland, beloved grandchildren; Ariel Crye of Cleveland and Chad Crye of Murfreesboro; sisters, Vera Bowman of Bryant, AL. and Lyn Williams of Harrison; many cherished nieces and nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday April 16, 2008 in the chapel of Fike Funeral Home with the Reverend Richard Snyder and Reverend Johnny Underwood officiating. Interment will follow in the Sunset Memorial Gardens with Military Honors. Chad Crye, Allen Ownby, Mervin Ownby, Dean Ownby, Doug Teague and Brian Carroll will be serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Duel Ownby, Frank Ownby and Kenneth Price. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the services.
The family will receive friends from 1-3 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. A Masonic service will be conducted at 12:30 prior to visitation.
