Robert L. Anthony passed away on January 20, 2012, at home surrounded by his family. He was born November 6, 1922, in Maryville, Tenn., to John and Lennie Anthony. He is survived by his wonderful, caring wife of 65 years, Elizabeth Anthony; a son, Clark and Vicki Anthony of Longview, Texas; a daughter, Gwyn and Roger Boisvert of Longview, and a son, Rob and Susan Anthony of Carthage. He was a loving, caring Christian, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. He went to school at Walland and was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Maryville. He was a World War II veteran who served time in the European Theater from 1942 to 1945. He relocated to Longview, in 1950, for a job at Eastman and retired from Eastman in 1983, after almost 34 years of service. He continued to stay active as a builder with Anthony Builders and with his favorite past time of fox hunting. He enjoyed running his hound dogs, growing a big garden and sharing it with others, and spending time with his family. He valued his annual trips to his home town of Maryville, where he and Elizabeth built a summer home to spend time with family and longtime friends. He was blessed with 11 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren, with whom will remember him as a teacher. Just as he enjoyed cultivating his garden, he too enjoyed cultivating the lives of his family, and as he shared his garden with others, he too shared his most special fruits with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Lennie Anthony; and his siblings, Lillian Gillespie, Fred Anthony, William Anthony, Frankie Willocks, and Mayme Abbott, all of Maryville. He was also preceded in death by his beloved baby daughter, Melinda Anthony Hagler, of Longview, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 24, 2012, in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home of Longview with Dale Perkins officiating. Burial will follow in Elderville Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. prior to the service. A memorial guestbook may be signed at http://www.raderfh.com
