Allade “Belle” Chandler, 90, passed away on Monday, July 7. Belle was born July 8, 1923 in Greenbriar, Tennessee to Dan and Nancy Ann (Ownby) Whaley. Belle and her husband Gil lived in Sevierville for many years. Their retirement years were equally spent in their homes in Florida and Tennessee. Their union lasted 69 years before Gil passed away in 2013.
She is survived by a son Dennis Chandler, Eugene, OR and daughter Karen Trachsel, Orlando, FL. She has numerous extended family members in east Tennessee. Belle has eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren that affectionately referred to her as Meme B. Her oldest son, Harry Chandler, of Huntsville, AL preceded her in death in 2008.
Belle’s gifts included flair with flower arranging; she loved to bring fresh flowers when she attended family events or when visiting friends. She and Gil once owned a florist in Knoxville in the early years of their marriage. She had a wedding consulting business in Huntsville for many years and her creativity in wedding work was widely known. In addition to her wedding business, she performed many weddings for family and friends. This was her gift to the couple; she ensured these events were very memorable.
Belle loved the mountains. Although she and Gil lived in Alabama during his work years, she came home often to her roots to connect with family and friends.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate her life on Sunday, October 5, 2014 at the Blue Mountain Mist Country Inn, Sevierville.
In lieu of flowers to the family, give this gift to someone special in your life, in remembrance of her.
