Y. J. Foster, Sr, age 91, of Newport, passed away peacefully at his home Saturday, October 8, 2011. He was born in Cosby, TN, on January 26, 1920, and lived there till he married Ruby Fine. They moved to Cleveland, Ohio where he raised his family and upon retirement he moved back to Newport. He had a passion for cars and loved to hunt. He was a loving husband, father and friend. He was preceded in death by his mother, Narcis Foster father, Dewey Costner; brothers, Donald and Sherdan Foster; sister, Bernice Hill and grandson, David Foster. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Ruby Dean Fine Foster and children, Y. J. Foster, Jr. and wife Mary, Gerald Foster and wife Evelyn, Judy Hendricks and husband Ron and Roger Foster all of Cleveland, Ohio, Sharon Kelley and husband Bryan of Jonesborough, and Michelle Presnell and husband Kenny of Sevierville; daughter-in-law, Joanne Foster of Cleveland, Ohio; grandchildren, Denise Foster, Cheryl and Bennett Michelwicz, Christopher and Kelly Foster, Heather and Patrick Hrivnak, Christine and Lowell Perry, John and Angela Foster, Patty Hitz, Susan Foster, Jennifer and Dan Tabor, Jackie and Chris Butkiewicz, Pam Hendricks, Lauren Kelley, Hayley Kelley, Jessica Presnell, Dylan Presnell, April and Wes Lane, Major and Jamie Presnell and Jennifer and Justin Ratliff; and twenty five great grandchildren; brother, Grayden Mathis; sister-in-law, Betty Fine McNabb and several nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
Funeral services will be held 8:00 pm Tuesday, October 11, 2011 in Manes Funeral Home Chapel, with Grayden Mathis conducting service. Burial will be held 11:00 am Wednesday, October 12, 2011 in Union Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Tuesday at Manes Funeral Home prior to the funeral service.
