Services Friday for William Isaac Messer 91, of Pacifica, who passed away with family at his bedside, on Nov. 22, 2011. Born to James Isaac and Nola Mae Messer in the Smokey Mountains of Tennessee on Nov. 14, 1920, he was the second of eight children.
Bill was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Laura Marie Messer, his parents, brothers Russell, Andrew and Max Messer and sister Glada Messer Hubbar. Surviving family include loving children Larry Messer of Pacifica and wife Kim, Donna Fazendin of Pioneer and Debbie Howell of Etna and her husband David and his brothers John Hoover Messer of Louisiana, Frank and Henry Messer of Tennessee. Bill will also be missed by his grandchildren Chad, Sabrina, Danelle, Katie, Brad and Greg. He was also the proud great-grandfather of Dominique, CJ, Kailah, Madison, Macey and Emma.
A veteran of both World War II and the Korean War in which he served honorably. Bill lived in Pacifica for 59 years and owned Bill’s Welding Service in the 1960s. An outdoors and avid fisherman, he will be remembered as a man whose good nature was only surpassed by his unfailing generosity. Bill was an active member of the Coastside Masonic Lodge #762 of Pacifica, for 50 years and was honored with several awards, such as the Hiram Award, Mason of the Year and Dedicated Service Award. He was also a member of the Loyal Order of Moose.
Visitation will be held on Friday Dec. 2, 2011 at 9 a.m. with a Chapel Service at 10 a.m. at Chapel By The Sea Funeral Home 801 Oceana Blvd. Committal to follow at Skylawn Memorial Park, HWY 92 at Skyline Blvd, San Mateo. A reception to celebrate his life will be held at Coastside Masonic Lodge in Pacifica following the burial services.
